About
I am an associate professor at the Rady School of Management at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). I hold a B.A. in psychology and creative writing from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. in social psychology from New York University. Before arriving at Rady, I worked in the Netherlands at the University of Amsterdam, Leiden University, and Radboud University Nijmegen.
In my research, I study how differences in power, status, and influence occur and the effects they have. My work can be found in leading journals such as PNAS, Psychological Science, and the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.
I am a proud first-generation college student. I live in San Diego, California, with my spouse and kid. I will never turn down the opportunity for good beer, cocktails, food, or live music.
